The English word “soil” defines both the earth and the homeland. But the etymology also speaks of its proximity to the French word seuil [threshold], thus identifying a place or time of passage. There is indeed the threshold of pain, the threshold of a country, the threshold of knowledge.
At the centre of this new body of images is a reflection on identity transformations and liminal conditions. The pictures alternate a social approach with an introspective one, working together to build a timeless narrative.
